M A Hadley on my Table

Well, you asked for it and I was happy to oblige. Yesterday, I posted plates on a couple of blogging parties. One was Wordless Wednesday so, of course, I couldn't tell you anything about these charming little plates with farm creatures. You can see here if you missed it. Several of you were interested in knowing the history behind these plates so I thought I'd tell you tonight. These plates belonged to my mother. She had LOTS of them. Since, I was limited in cabinet space, I only kept a few, the ones you saw on the wall in the last post and these on the table.

I paired them with some inexpensive green plates, I picked up at Hobby Lobby several years ago. Then layered them on straw chargers. The napkin rings are made to look like little planting pots. I made the napkins out of fabric speckled with blueberries.

The butter dish has a cute blue cow painted on the sides.

A covered dish with a pig. I used a planting shovel for a serving spoon to go along with the theme. Of course, I've never used it outside in the dirt! :)

The whimsical pottery pieces are made by M. A. Hadley. You can learn more about them at http://www.hadleypottery.com/.

Beside the rooster on the center of the table is another inherited piece. We found this old crock with the blue cows on the front in a barn at the old farmstead. When I set this farm themed table, I remembered having it.

It's fun to pull out valued pieces that you've had over the years and I appreciate all of you encouraging me to do just that tonight. Check out the rest of the tables at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/.

So now we know the rest of the story. The dishes are really wonderful and I love the way you mix and match. I love to do that so much that I need to see if it's possible to set a table with just one pattern! Have a wonderful week, Marsha. :)Nancy

I've always liked M A Hadley although I don't have any but a friend's mother knew Mary and my friend have several pieces that Mary made just for her. They are lovely pieces.

Those are adorable little dishes! Thanks for commenting on my met monday post. To answer your question, the particular pattern of window film I chose is not see-through at all. But there are other patterns that have clear areas that you could see through. I'm considering a scrolly/lacy one for my back door ;-)
