Cooler days,
colder nights,
amber leaves are scarce,
branches will soon be bare.
The birds of the air instinctively know this, but they don’t hurry or stress. Why?

I haven’t thought too much about the destructive relationship between man and the earth. I guess I thought it was an exaggeration by some with political motives and I’m not discounting that completely with this post, mind you. But when one is affected personally, it becomes real, doesn’t it?
The recent oil spill in my own backyard,
the beautiful place we love to enjoy our family vacations,
brings home the realization that man is ruining…
not just a vacation spot, but sweet family memories for years to come,
not just a vacation spot, but the beauty of the sea and shore,
not just a vacation spot, but life itself.

As the National Day of Prayer approaches and the controversy over its existence accelerates, I’m reminded of 2 Chronicles 7:1.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
We need HIM to hear from heaven.
We need HIM to forgive our sins.
We need healing in our land.

Sunday Eve
When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?"
The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)
Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."
“Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?"
Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." ~John 4:7-13
Of course, the setting above relates to ancient times, but we can easily make it talk to us by replacing some of the nouns. And just what is “living water”? What comes to your mind?

No snow here in the south...just rain. Rain and Cold. The snow is lovely to look at, but it's crippling too. Confining. And I've still got cabin fever from the last snow so I'm thankful for the rain. Soon the sun will shine and we'll appreciate it so much more than if we'd never had the rain. "Weather is a great metaphor for life
-sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad,
and there's nothing much you can do about it

Took this photo today P.S. Yes, I know we are half-way through the month. If you read my blog, you know I've had a little going on at my house lately. (Which is why I'm keeping them SIMPLE!) 
1. Put some SPICE in my life!
I'm going to treat myself to something special, once a month or week if time permits. What the heck, maybe even once a day!! Nothing big or expensive, mind you. Enjoying a manicure or pedicure even if I have to do it myself, reading a good book, or maybe just a cup of fancy tea. 
2. Drink plenty of clear clean WATER!
In fact, with babies living with me, buying a whole house filter system is on my list. 
3. Try something DIFFERENT.
Live outside my comfort zone. Go somewhere I've never been. Do something I've never done.
4. Eat foods that GROW ON TREES...
and from God's good earth.
5. Take time to be CREATIVE. 
6. PRAY without ceasing. 
7. Get lots of good REST and SLEEP. 
8. Take brisk WALKS daily.
9. Lastly, remember to SMILE... 
Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; 
This cherub stands watch in my flower garden. You'll notice she has a broken wing, but I couldn't get rid of her. That just makes her extra special. She's a reminder, that we all are broken, but we persevere and learn from our mistakes, our shortcomings and are better people for them.
All day, she sees the birds cooling in the bath and hears their sweet songs.
She watches the flowers grow...
and wane...
and the willow branches blow.
