A Basket of Goodies

My daughter's sweet friend got married this summer and we gave her a bridal shower. I wanted to give her something personal so first I found out her kitchen was black and red. I decided to give her utensils to make cookies and so now I know I have a black and red, cookie making theme to work with.

First of all, I bought her a cookie sheet which is the foundation for all the rest of the goodies in the basket. Now, what do you need to make cookies? A BOWL! So I bought a stainless steel bowl and placed it on the cookie sheet securing it with glue dots. (They will peel off easily.) In the bowl, I have placed a few wooden spoons to stir your cookie batter, of course. In the bowl and clearly visible, I have placed a homemade (with love) cup towel with her newly married initial appliqued on the front.

To top it off, I made a cute little red and black bow centered with a vintage black and rhinestone button that I found in my collection. Hanging from the bow are stainless steel measuring cups to measure her cookie ingredients. I made a custom card to attach to the front of the basket with a photo of homemade cookies from my own kitchen. BTW, That's my mother's Piggy cookie jar in the photo. I still treasure it and hope to fill it with cookies for my grandson soon. We have to carry on the traditions, you know. :=)
And the back side of the card has the recipe so that she can make them herself. Maybe you'd like to try them too! Please do and hope you enjoy!

Now the story continues when my daughter came over and saw the basket and said, "Oh, I want a cup towel too!" And that progressed to an apron which we'll talk about next time. ;=)

Now, you need to hurry over to
Gollum's Foodie Friday and Kelli's Show and Tell to see all the other goodies!

What a thoughtful gift. You did a great job. I like the glue dot hint to. I have struggled with slippery basket stuff before.
I just did two in June for birthdays and I wrapped them in the matching black and clear cellophane to your black and white swirl on the towel.

What a beautiful gift - I think the hand made and put together baskets are always the best - so personal.

Silly question - why is it called a cup towel? I have never heard of that before.

To Marsha at Marsha's garden: I really don't know why it's called a cup towel?? I thought everybody called them that. hmmm...maybe I just made it up. :)

This gift is a perfect example of what a giving and loving person you are!! I am in awe of the thought and talent that went into this gift (I have NEVER been good with making bows!). A gift like this is so special...

I read your post in which you taught your daughter to make her apron. I don't sew, so it was an interesting tutorial. Too bad we live so far apart, I would love to learn!

I enjoyed visiting your blog, Marsha!! :-)
