empty nesters NO more!

My kitchen counters used to look like this...

...and this...

...but now they look like this...

My cabinets have safety latches like this that even I can't get into.

My living room used to look like this...
...and now it looks like this.

I have gates now too. Oh, see all those decor items on the floor behind the gate? They're there for protection...

...from him. And what a JOY he is!

Can anybody relate?
If you haven't read the rest of this story, you can read about it here and here.

God bless you all!
Going from empty nester to small children again in the home has some challenges! Alot of rewarding moments though.

Alot of fun moments and sweet memories are made and the energy level is maxed out.

We were empty nesters for close to 8 years when our daughter returned home with a 9 month old baby. Her husband abandoned them and our heads spun. Very emotional.

I went from doing pretty much what I wanted all day to babysitting a really active child in a house being remodeled!!! I have had to pray, pray, pray. But God is good and He's helping us all through this.

I cheer you on and may all go well!!!

Life is always about change, isn't it? I am so glad you are able to be there for your daughter and her children. I appreciate the sacrifice your family and SIL are making for all of us. When my nest first emptied I cried and cried..until I realized that they usually come home again at least for a while and always bring more people or dogs with them :) I know this is an adjustment, but you sound ready to meet the challenge!

What a special blessing he is. I will keep your SIL in prayer, and thank him for his unselfish service. God Bless. I think I like the new look much better than the old. Hugs, Marty

Thanks so much for your prayers and support. It's so comforting to know that there are those that can relate. It does "take a village".

Everything looks wonderful Marsha, but your sweet grandson certainly steals the show! God bless him! I'm reminded of that poem about fingerprints, and I'd LOVE to see little fingerprints and toys scattered around my own home again! They are FAR more beautiful than any silk flower, knick-knack, or fancy-pants chair! God has blessed YOU.. Enjoy every minute of it! ~tina

yup--when the grands come it is like a tornado has hit our home!! We have so many danger spots that I have to take care whenever they come for a visit. I have glass table tops that can be disasterous especially because the one year old loves to climb on EVERYTHING! I posted about this on my regular nannykim blog. We also have so many tables and he likes to climb up and get innto everything on the tables. We have a split level and an upstairs so 2 sets of stairs to practice falling on!! Oh and a kittie litter box... lots of cabinets too.....They are coming for Thanksgiving to cook a meal for the greatgrand parents (but we will be in Seattle visiting my son) so I will have to do some baby proofing
