Snow down South!

We don't get snow down South too often. So when it does, it's a big deal. Like today, we got 3 inches in some parts and it's still snowing. No worry though since schools closed yesterday just on the prediction. That's right! I know you northerners can't believe it, but it's true.

And everyone goes to the store for bread and milk at least. Yes. I did too. I left early this morning before the first snowflake fell. I know some of you seasoned snow birds don't think twice about driving in the slippery stuff, but this southern gal doesn't drive in it. I did try it once when I was sixteen and stupid. Ended up sliding sideways down a hill. Dad had to rescue me and haven't tried it since.

Back to the groceries, I have a long list and I'm taking my time since the snow storm is not predicted to come through until noon. That's when cigar man called from work and said the roads were covered there. I panicked and headed for the check-out line. So I left a few items on my list. We're not going to starve!
The birds know when a snow storm's coming. I watched them out my window skirmishing about the bird feeder, bristling their feathers in the cold brisk air, preparing for the storm to come.
And it did come! And is still coming!
The birds were right. The weatherman was right. The schools were right to close.
Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
Cigar Man came home early from work before the roads got any worse. But the roads weren't TOO bad to head out looking for a sled. Do you know, there were none to be found!

So what to do, but make your own, out of a trash can lid.
So it was pretty boy's first time to play in the snow.
He wasn't worried about preparing for the snow, just playing in it.
and playing some more.
All the while pretty boy #2 stayed inside where it was warm and cozy.

I'm right with you. We are in middle TN and we had a beautiful snow. I also pretty much refuse to drive in any kind of inclement weather like this.

Are these pictures yours? They are so pretty. If you are interested, I put some photos up on my blog of the snow we had today.

Pretty boy #1 and #2 are so handsome.

Oh your pics are so good. I can't wait to get out and take pics of the kids tomorrow. Just hoping the ice doesn't come and ruin it all tonight.
thanks for stopping by..

I loved your pictures. What cuties. It's just like that here too, when it snows the whole town shuts down. We don't know how to function but it sure is fun!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Marcia

Can't find a sled - break open a card board box, lid off of a trash can, etc. :-)
Everything is covered in ice right now !! "They" say we have more coming tonight !! As long as I have power and heat I am fine. Come on Spring!! :-D
Stay warm.

Your snow pictures are beautiful, especially the birds. How fun to have your grandson there to watch him enjoy the snow!

It always amazes me to see the birds on the bare branches in the middle of a snow. Such a contrast. I love the trash can sled, and the fabulous snow pictures with your little one. So much fun. Hugs, Marty

You must have the best and the cleanest windows in the world! Your bird photos are always fabulous! We have 6 inches in Ark. We folks down south don't have that road clearing equipment that they have up north. As little snow as we have, it wouldn't be feasible for us to have it. That's why they can drive in it, and we can't. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. laurie

What beautiful boys you have.

Glad the little one got to go sledding. I remember when I was a kid we would use cardboard boxes or anything we could find that would slide down the hill!

Beautiful images, even though inside I am secretly snickering at you'all ;)

If I refused to drive in the snow, I would be housebound for six months!

Take care.
