South Beach Diet – who me?

Recognize this book, anyone?

You guessed it. The South Beach Diet.

My daughter came up with this not so sure it’s going to work excellent idea for us to diet, starting today.

She also came up with this not so sure it’s going to work excellent idea to make a contest out of this diet thing. You see, at the end of each week, we’ll weigh and whoever loses the biggest percentage will get a day off. You know, we have two very active adorable babies in our house, so a day off is a real prize! (If you know what I mean.)

You can tell she’s serious. She’s even written out a menu!

So in dread anticipation of beginning the South Beach diet, I enjoyed succumbed to a Krispy Kreme “HOT ONE” yesterday.

mmmmmm…it was GOOD!

Actually, we just ate supper according to “the book” and it was not bad. We strayed from the menu a wee bit.

meal

  • Grilled chicken tenderloins drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with Cavender’s Greek Seasoning.
  • Fresh asparagus seasoned with olive oil and Greek seasoning (yes, we like this combo.) and baked in the oven on 425 for about 15 minutes
  • A tossed salad rounded off our meal.

I’ll let you know how it works out. Oh, and by the way, if you want to lose weight too, you're so welcome to join us. Misery LOVES company!

It certainly worked for both me and my husband. And I still like to make garlic mashed pot- (oops) cauliflower.

I started my diet today, too! Until April 24th, I'm just cutting out bread, potatoes, alcohol, and all the other bad carbs. I'm on a panic-diet, so I can fit in my Matron of Honor dress at my sister's wedding....on the 24th. :-)

Looking at your menu - I would not lose a pound eating like that. :) Wish both of you good luck on your diet. Due to lack of enough activity because of my leg and back issues, I have gained a few extra pounds. Hope to lose the extra now that the weather is getting nicer and I can walk more. I was also eating to many meals of "take out" food, as I could not stand for long periods of time to cook. Even tho I tried to eat a lot of veggies, who knows what they are seasoned with.

I am on day 9 of Phase 1 and not finding it too difficult. I have lost about 6 lbs. I could be slightly stricter but doing ok.

Check out Kalyn's Kitchen, she has a TON of SBD recipes.

Have fun on the beach!

I 'did' the south beach diet with my best friend 8 or 9 years ago, and I lost 15#'s..... unfortunately I've gained it back, but truly ..... I felt wonderful when I was on the diet.
Good luck!!!!

That recipe looks great. I love the veggies. South Beach is good and works, I am the one that just doesn't work. HH can eat anything and never gain an ounce so I just go along with him especially since he is the cook now days. Easter blessing to you and yours.

Mmmm a hot KK donut...droool...

That being said, I do believe that after Easter I'm going to be jumping back on the wagon as well. Yeah, yeah, "the diet starts Monday"...so cliche! But spring really is the best time to start!

Best of luck to you!

Cavendars is the best seasoning!!
I love it when i make chicken soulvaki!

Love your blog. I'm been working hard at the exercise portion. It doesn't come easy at all. In fact I have weights on my ankles right now! I go to curves every other day ('ceptin Sunday's cause they are closed) I just have to get the diet part working. I really struggle with that.
