Sunday Eve

sea gull emb

I haven’t thought too much about the destructive relationship between man and the earth. I guess I thought it was an exaggeration by some with political motives and I’m not discounting that completely with this post, mind you. But when one is affected personally, it becomes real, doesn’t it?

The recent oil spill in my own backyard,

the beautiful place we love to enjoy our family vacations,

brings home the realization that man is ruining…

Jack's feet

not just a vacation spot, but sweet family memories for years to come,

landscape with blue oil painting texture

not just a vacation spot, but the beauty of the sea and shore,

sea gull on a post

not just a vacation spot, but life itself.

"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it,

the world, and all who live in it;

for he founded it upon the seas

and established it upon the waters." Psalm 24:1-2

"You shall not pollute the land in which you live....

You shall not defile the land in which you live…”

Numbers 35:33

This is a great post considering what is happening with this oil spill. I think our government tend to keep us in the dark and I just turn to the Lord. God is ever present. He is everything and everywhere in our lives. I love the verses you choose. So appropriate.

My heart is in sympathy with you too. It is just sickening to hear what is happening down there. As Anne said, we just give it to the Lord.

I just heard on the news they have two more things to try to cap the oil spill, but state that THERE IS NO LONG TERM SOLUTION. What?
Are they just going to let the oil keep gushing until all the oceans of the world are polluted? We need to pray about this. God forgive us for what we are doing to your creation!

FANTASTIC POST!

The truth is God has given us all the resources we need to live in harmony with nature without reeking this havoc. Wind and solar have little or no negative side effects. So why do we continue to use a product with literally Hellish side effects?

God has given us all we need to live, steward and maintain in harmony and balance. Corporate greed and our own fear keeps us from making changes. New jobs that support green industries will replace the oil generated jobs.

When the centurion was ailing Jesus told him"It will be done unto you as you believe"...I believe that all things are possible....and we have been given loving, compassionate, clean and green resources that will keep those little babies feet in the clean pure sand and us moms and grandmas enjoying our shores with our families for years to come...

But, we have to believe, pray, and act to require our politicians to make the changes to cut down on oil and replace with cleaner options.

Go to www.avaz.org to sign the world-wide petition asking politicians to stop off-shore oil drilling....

Thanks Marsha for such a touching and beautifully done post!

Such a heart-felt post. Thank you.
My little boy has been praying for the oil spill every night. We mentioned it one time and he always remembers it in his prayers. Today I showed him the advertisement on the door of the barber shop that they were donating the hair to help in the clean up.

Very sad, Marsha. I'm just sick about what is happening... And--before it's over, as you know, it could cause SO much damage in so many places. We are the only ones who can take care of our earth--and we are not doing a very good job of it... So SAD!

Great post.
Hugs,
Betsy

Its unfortunate when people don't care...
Don't care about destroying, just care ablout themselves and that they will get out of it.
If each of us do our part to the best of our ability, then I guess we have made a difference.
Recently we also had an oil spill which made a mess on many of our beaches. Then a cargo ship got stuck on our Great Barrier Reef and destroyed much of the coral... not good.
The verse you chose tells us all, we are to appreciate and not defile God bless your caring heart.

Good thoughts, Marsha. I believe in being good stewards of the earth. We have sacrificed so much for "convenience". For instance, growing up we purchased soft drinks in returnable, reusable bottles. Nothing wrong with that. Now they are made of plastic - one use and are filling up landfills everywhere (not everyone takes advantage of recycling).

I do however, have a hard time with people who are so radical as to put the earth above man. Many will fight to their death over a mistreated animal, yet condone abortion, etc. I love what Anne said, "just turn to the Lord."

Beautiful pictures and I agree it it is sad to see such beauty destroyed.

Blessings,
Joan

This oil spill is so terrible. I'm so sorry to hear that it has touched your life in away that is so sad. Sometimes it amazes me how they are just not ready to fix these kinda of things. They should have a plan before it happens.
Blessings to you,
Ginger

Thank you for sharing this thoughtful post. I think everything in life becomes important when it impacts our lives personally. Someday God will renew the earth and fix all the damage caused by us. I'm looking forward to that day.

We are ALL stewards of this earth that God has created....our bodies are temples of God and the earth is sacred too...I am so sorry you are experiencing first hand the oil spill and devastation it is causing. Politics aside, I pray it gets taken care of soon and the world learns from it!

Marsha, I've been very concerned about this, too. Things like this are close to us because as Floridians, our coastlines are very, very sensitive.

This affects not only the earth but our economy. My heart goes out to those people whose businesses are in the tourism industry along the coast, and I hope things get cleaned up not only for their sakes, but for the sake of the wildlife and for posterity.

I hope and pray that all goes well from here on out.

XO,

Sheila

Yes, we must all join together in our prayers that a true miracle be visited upon Mother Earth so that this oil just disappears. You are wonderful. Marsha too
