Hi, my dear blogging friends! Thanks so much for the kind comments on my kitchen redo.
After finishing our kitchen, we, uh, I decided to paint the dining room.
Cigar Man thought it looked just fine the way it was, but reluctantly went along.
Can anybody relate?
Here’s our dining room before.
Limey green walls which I lived with for seven years, but now I can admit, I never really liked.
Can anybody relate?
I stenciled the border myself which I did like, but covered it up anyway.
Change is Good! In this before photo, you can see a little of the valance I made for the bay window.
Again, Change is Good.
I stripped it away. In this next photo, you will see I don’t have anything on our bay window yet.
I’m thinking of Plantation Shutters though. What do ya think?
The new wall color is Sherwin Williams’ Oyster Bay.
Let me tell you, I love the $4.99 samples that Sherwin Williams’ offers.
I painted roughly 2’ x 2’ squares on the wall of 4 different samples
before deciding on the color that I loved.
Previously, I painted the ceiling inset brown with some gold swirls.
Again, Change is Good! J
Now, our ceiling inset is the same color as the wall, Oyster Bay.The perimeter of the ceiling is Sherwin Williams, Kilim Beige.
I painted our kitchen ceiling in Kilim Beige also for consistency.
Yes, the rug is gone too. I may replace with another at some point,
if I can find the “perfect” compliment.
Now for the fun part!
The little touches!
Replaced light switch plates…
I found these plates at a local antique mall.
I fell in love, especially since they were only $36 for 6 plates!
The pattern is Wellesley by Wedgwood, Made in England.
I treasure this antique pitcher, I‘ve had for many years.
I’ve set it in my bay window for now.
Thanks for letting me share my dining room changes at Kim’s Before and After
and Transformation Thursdays and Show and Tell Friday
and now I’m skipping over to check yours out!.

Marsha, what a transformation. Love the new wall color and the ceiling is amazing. You have been hard at work. I hate painting ceilings. My neck bothers me forever after I look up like that. Love all the decor, too. I love the room without the rug and I say go for the plantation shutters. I am glad I did. Thanks in advance for joining my first party.
Very pretty! I do like that color you painted - Great job!
I love the new color. I may be downsizing to a condo soon (we shall know in a week or so) and I have been thinking about colors. This is a nice one!
I love the new room. Beautiful! I'd do without the rug if you can. And it's a yes to plantation shutters.
I couldn't wait to see some Before-Afters from Savvy Southern Style and cheated a little and hopped over here early. I L.O.V.E. the color you chose. Just what I have been looking for. Beautiful!
Your dining room looks gorgeous! I love the new wall color and those switch plates are so pretty. You have a beautiful home!

Love your new dining room look - really updated! Oh, the plates are gorgeous. My aunt left me a set of Wellesley with the same gorgeous white border - don't you love it! - and a different print in the center. That was a great purchase you made! Linda

Wow, gorgeous !! I absolutely love the paint color ... the Kilim Beige compliments it so well. I love all of your "touches" too. I'm off to revisit your kitchen re-do ... I need to drool again. Take care, *Becca* (And, yes, I think plantation shutters would look fab in there ... am hoping to add those to my dining/sitting rooms in the near future).

Hi Marsha, I love the new look. And plantation shutters? YES! I love the plantation shutters, but they are very costly so I am having to take one room at a time. Also, thanks for the kind comment on hubby's office re-do. I have the same chairs at my breakfast table that you have at each end of your dining table. Love them. Teresa
Your dining room looks great! Now I'm off to see your kitchen.

Beautiful! Love the color!
Kim, just when I thought I wasn't going to see another post I loved as much as the others... I loved yours even more! Thank you for sharing the paint color. I've entered my post about my ever changing living room and the colors it's been and how I need to go one more shade into the grays before I might be happy with it. Maybe I'll check out your color! The room is spectacular - great job with your accessories, light fixture etc. I LOVE everything about the room! I'm following you now and hope you'll check out my blog and decide to follow me back :)
