Two chairs and a planter - the long way

Our deck needed an overhaul this year. As you can see, the grey stain from five years ago has seen better days. Don’t tell anyone, but I never liked the grey anyway.

So we stained the floor Lowe’s Olympic, Jefferson Tan and on the arbor, wall, and lattice work, we matched the color of the trim on the house. It’s been a slow process. We’re still not finished, but for Metamorphosis Monday at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com I thought I would show you a portion of what we have accomplished.

Our adirondack chairs and glider were previously painted white so we repainted them to match the arbor, wall, etc. YES, I did help!

Bought this planter at Target

Filled it with newspapers.
Topped that with shredded grass.
Displayed old metal garden tools and clay pots.

Sealed it with a glass top
Set a water fountain that I picked up at a garage sale on the glass top

Stenciled the Adirondack chair

Flanked the table with our Adirondack chairs, freshly painted and stenciled

WHEW! Where’s that jug of iced tea.

Hi Marsha...

Just read the sweet note that you left on my "Sunday Favorites" post...I'm so glad that you stopped by for a visit and I'd just love for you to participate in Sunday Favorites sometime!!!

Ohhhh myyyy goodness!!! My friend, talk about a total backyard make-over...well, you've done it!!! You have such a lovely yard and deck area!!! I just love that arbor...bet that's lots of fun to decorate!!! I just can't believe the transformation! Love the pretty tan that you did on the deck floor and the arbor, fence, etc. looks so fresh and fabulous!!! I can just imagine your excitement to have all of this redone! Love your fresh update on the adirondack chairs...the initials are a great idea! And I just love the pretty striped pink pillows!!! But...I just have to say that one of my favorites was that big ol' urn project! I think that adding the pretty items to the inside...where you can see them through the glass table top...is genius!!! That's a grand idea...I love it!

Your brand new backyard and deck is gorgeous...Congratulations!!!

Warmest wishes,
Chari

Marsha, I might just have to totally copy what you did to your adirondack chairs. Mine are calling for a coat of paint. I love how you used the urn to make a table too. Great ideas!

Now that table from the urn filled with stuff is about the most clever idea I've seen in a while. Really nice touch to monogram chairs, too. Linda

I can't believe the difference a can of paint can make. I am always amazed. Your porch is just dreamy in the tan shade you chose. What a good idea to monogram your initials on the Adirondack chairs. Very custom touch. What a huge project with huge results. Beautiful! Amy

This is going to be drop dead beautiful when you are finished. The little touches like the initial on the backs of chairs, are what make things so special. Yes, lots of work..but..so very worth it! The pink and green striped pillows, all those Spring fresh colors...just beautiful!
LOVE it all! Its the tiny details that are wonderful to see.
