hydrangeas in a vintage bowl

We have a hydrangea bush that blesses us with so many gorgeous blooms each summer. They just don't last long enough. So I like to take every opportunity to enjoy them while they're here. They make great cut flowers to bring inside and arrange in vases. This time it seemed appropriate to arrange my hydrangeas in an old crock bowl. Luckily, there's not much to arranging hydrangeas. Since the blooms are so full, you just stick them in your container and they look beautiful without a lot of effort.

My tablecloth's a white crocheted vintage cloth.

That's right - I'm mix n' matchin again! I started with my plates from Hobby Lobby, Elite by Gibson. I have them in celery green and rusty red. As you'll see below, I used both colors this time. Next comes my M A Hadley plates. Each plate has a different scene. Of course, this one's the farmer's house. Between the plate layers, I've folded a napkin made of fabric covered in blueberries. My Lenox crystal has a soft green tint and I've paired them with my Gibson mugs.

Here's the farmer and below the farmer's wife that live in the little house above.

The view of the blooming mandevilla on our porch makes a very pleasant backdrop for meals in the kitchen!

What a pretty table setting. Your flowers are beatutiful. I love hydrangeas. I don't have any of my own, but was able to get some elsewhere and wanted to dry some. Always had good luck previous times, but not this year. :( Not sure why.

This is a lovely post. I love hydrangeas and like what you have done with the vintage bowl. I also like your M A Hadley plates and butter dish. My sister-in-law has a fairly extensive collection of her pieces and they are charming. Your table looks so pretty in front of that nice big window.

I enjoyed my visit.

Oh, I love it. The Hydrangeas are just simply stunning. I so wish they would grow here, but not hardly desert friendly. I love the different dishes. The farm and the farmer and his wife are so cute. I don't think I've seen this pattern before. So pretty. The rest of your tablescape is so pretty. What a gorgeous view out the window, and such a great backdrop for any meal. So pretty. Hugs, Marty

Marsha... your hydrangeas are gorgeous! My husband's grandmother used to have the most maginficent bushes, and I wish I knew what her secret was. I can't grow them well. But yours! PERFECTION.

I love your Mary Hadley china, too. That is as cute as can be. We had horses with our names on our plates as children. They are long since broken and gone by the wayside, but I can't see it without smiling. I keep tryint to talk myself into collecting it, and with young godchildren, I might do just that! :-)

Love your crocheted cloth, too. My sister does crochet, and I am always admire it when I see it.

Happy Tablescape Thursday. I hope you'll enter my drawing.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Your purple hydrangeas are just gorgeous. I have always wanted a hydrangea bush growing by my front porch. There is something very vintage about them. Thank you for your inspiration. Amy :)

I'll have to ask my "landscape architect son" if I can get a hydrangea to grow in Kansas, I LOVE the looks of those flowers. They are everywhere you go anymore, used in decorating of all kinds and you have a lovely one!

Hi Marsha, so nice to find your blog and enjoy the precious tablescape you've created for us to see! The hydrangeas are outstanding and give your table a sense of royalty, and the Hadley plates bring so much charm - what a perfect combination! I like the perspective you share on your profile, too. Yes, we have wonderful lives here in America, and sometimes we do have to remind ourselves of how blessed we are by our God!

I planted Hydrangeas at our house and they were blue when I planted them and now they are pink?? Not sure why but I am thinking it has to do with the soil. They still are pretty no matter what color. Thanks for sharing your pretty table with me today.

Joyce, you are right. The color of the hydrangea will be determined by the soil and how much acidity is in the soil. My aunt in Hot Springs, Arkansas has pink hydrangeas.

Beautiful table! Love the hydrangeas, too -- mine are being stingy with blooms this year, don't know why but I only have a few on each bush -- not enough to cut!

Love those plates -- so adorable!

Your plates look like majolica. I love the hydrangeas in the striped bowl. You can just send an invitation to me down here in Texas for a fun place to eat.
