My dad made this looooong pine shelf for me several years ago. We put it up, but it was just too dark for my red walls so I decided to paint it the color of the trim and bead board. You can see the big difference it made in the first photo. Even though I am always hesitant to paint wood (I love the patina of old woods.), I am very pleased that I painted this shelf.
I did buy these letters at JoAnns. They were on sale for $1.99 a letter. I covered them with fabrics that I already had to coordinate with my room colors. Then I hung baskets on my shelf pegs so they'd be handy for any need I might have.
This old lamp was in my attic just itching to be redone.
I painted the brass on the lamp the same grey-green on one wall of my room and the ceiling. The red shade and stem of the lamp goes well in my room so I left it, but I did add a bias strip around the top and bottom of the shade out of the same fabric I've put on the inside of my Larkin desk. You can see the the Larkin Desk a little closer here in the first post about my craft room move. If you'd like to see the second post, click here.
I needed a place to store all my gift wrap, etc. so I pulled this old coca cola cooler out of the attic to use for that purpose.

Looking great so far!! I like how you hung the baskets; cute!
I'll be doing that as well in the near future. I am in Escrow for a 4 bedroom house (all to myself!!)... so I'll be able to make my craft room exactly the way I want. I'm in a rental right now & the rooms are soooo tiny! There was definitely no room for the gazillion scrap book items or other crafty stuff!
looks like your craft room is almost done, looks beautiful, i need one in the worst way
That really looks great! I am so jealous of those of you with craft rooms! :)
Looking good! Really like the redo on the shelf. I would love to have a craft room/office to redo.
Beautiful! Love the skirt on the table- I find myself putting them on everything. :)
Just awesome my friend...Loved seeing it all...Now that Coca cola cooler made my old heart skip a beat...Loved that WOW!! May you have a great day my friend...Looking good...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
Marsha, your craft room is looking wonderful. I soooo love the darker, warmer colors set off with the white. Using that cooler for storage was a great idea!

Marsha,
I think your craft room looks fabulous!! You did a great job with the peg board but I know how you feel as far a leaving beautiful wood alone. The baskets looks so cute on it and soon they will be so filled to the brim with goodies!!
Love how you jazzed up the lamp too! Good idea to hold on to it and a crafy person always fixes up what they have instead of buying a new one (lampshade)!!
Love it!

I love how your room looks! You're doing a fantastic job.
Be a sweetie,

Love your "MAKE" sign! It's all really coming together. How wonderful to have a room like that!
You did a nice job of making your desk, lamp, and shelf look a lot more expensive. And all for the cost of a little fabric and paint. The room looks functionally beautiful!

Looks great! Very creative and I love the colors of the walls and fabric!!
Really looking charming and functional-love the color! And the letters!
love, kelee
You are doing a great job. You've managed to combine charm and function and that's not always easy to do.
I love your craft room and you are right about organizing being the most painstaking part. My room is at mid completion. Everytime I work on a project I go 3 steps backwards.
LOVE your big letters. I also Love the red "bin" for your paper rolls.
I hope you will come over and check out this weeks Knock off and I bet you have some things you could post to the KNOCK OFF KNOCK OUT Party.

Its So Very Cheri
Wow, Marsha, this is just wonderful! I am truly inspired now to finish my office/craft room ... once the kitchen is done. Thanks for the inspiration!

Everything looks wonderful. Very creative and what a fabulous place to craft and design. I love it. Hugs, Marty
Your room is absolutely stunning... what great ideas you come up with. I have to tell you after reading your first post about this room reno, I went to an antique store on my vacation and was amazed to find a printer's drawer! It now hangs on my wall, displaying my wooden stamps too. All thanks to you!
I tend to think twice about painting wood as well but I do like the shelf better painted. I like your letters too! It's a cute, fun room!
WOW, you did a fantastic job! I really love your craft room.
Everything is coming together! The shelf looks so much nicer white! And cute lamp redo!
Hello Marsha! Thanks so much for visiting my blog and for your sweet compliment...and for becoming a follower! :) LOVE your white peg rack and the wainscoting is lovely. Again, that's for visiting!
