I’m joining some pretty fine gardeners at Tootsie’s Fertilizer Friday and the Inspired Room.
Wisteria blooms have taken over my pergola in the last couple of days with the most stunning lilac colored blossoms. The abundance of the color in my garden now is amazing. It’s like someone takes a paint brush and hurls brilliant hues here and there at night while I’m sleeping. When I awake I find new splashes of color where dull brown used to be.
Speaking of paint, I played around with textures on this photo and the effect reminded me of a water color painting. I layered a texture found at Shadowhouse Creations resembling a blue cracked paper called PG2 at 60% over the first photo to get this look.
Oh, how I wish you could take in the fragrance that envelopes me when I open my back door, but, sadly, I know you can’t. I can only send you pictures and so that’s what I’ll do. J

That is just beautiful. I've only seen wisteria growing like that once in person. It's awesome. Can you carry a bloom cluster into the house just to smell it there?

Your wisteria is so gorgeous and I am so jealous. I cannot get mine to bloom and it is facing an axing. I did warn it last year.LOL!

Hocking Hills Gardener, could be that your wisteria's not mature enough. Ours was 4 years old before it bloomed.

Beautiful!! Wisteria explodes into beauty so fast. I went by the silos a few days before I photographed them, and they were nothing but a mass of vines - no blooms. Then an explosion of purple beauty a few days later ( my header).

Oh my goodness!!! This is just what I needed to see! My husband is right now, as we speak (type), building a wisteria pergola. I know it will be years before we have it covered with blooms, so I'll have your lovely pictures to inspire me!

You have wisteria I can only dream of here. (I live in one gardening zone too cold.) These blossoms are fabulous!
Eileen, to be honest I don't recall which kind, japanese or chinese when we bought the plant about 6 years ago, but after researching, I believe ours is Japanese. Keep in mind before planting wisteria that it is VERY invasive. You have to keep a close watch and be ready to pull all the stray slips or it will take over everything.

It is still pretty brown here just a few early blooms but soon!

Oh MY!!!!! I want WANT WANT some of this in my garden!!! It will never happen...but I did read this on Friday and ran out and bought a potted one...wish me luck...I am sooooooo jealous and wish I could smell it!!!
