They say it’s dogwood winter – I say it’s COLD!

As they say in Tennessee, “if you don’t like the weather, stick around, it will change.”

So true this week,

Monday – a breaking record 89 degrees WARM!

Thursday – 50 degrees COOL!

This morning – 37 degrees COLD!

Cigar Man tells me it’s Dogwood Winter. He grew up on a farm so that makes him an expert at this kind of thing.

He’s says there’s Dogwood, Locus, and Blackberry Winter. There may be more, but that’s all he could tell me about before heading to work.

Have you ever heard of such a thing?

By the way, I edited my backyard dogwood photos with textures I found from various sites I learned from dropping in on Blue Ridge Gal and Chronicles from a Country Girl. I layered textures on my photos with Photoshop Elements. Sometimes I use “soft light” and lower the “Opacity” till I like what I see. Other times, I may just lower the Opacity. Try it. You’ll like it!

I’m sharing with others at Show and Tell Friday.

Dear Marsha,
The same saying goes for Kansans that if you don't like the weather wait a spell...it will change.

It seems to be really chilly in the mornings and warming by noon returning to cold by night.

I am sooooo ready for pleasant weather and no coat needed. Barefooted and enjoying it.

God bless you and your family, especially your son-in-law in the service.

Marsha you must be in the Mid-South too! I've been known to plant azaleas and bedding plants and it snowed on them!!! But it's going to warm up and be wonderful! Atleast we're having a bit of a Spring! Last couple of years it's jumped from cold to hot and humid! I love how you edited your pictures! I've seen that tab but have been a little timid trying to figure it out. God Bless! Lauralu :)

I'm in Northwest Tennessee and its Dogwood winter here too. Next will be blackberry winter. I'm not familiar with Locus winter, but I'm sure I've been there. This week should really be a winner, after this moves out. I too love having a little Spring weather before the SUMMER gets here. Enjoy your blog, I've been a follower for a while.

Oregon here and it's biting cold this morning. But hey, it's sunny without a rain cloud in the sky so I'll take the cold :)

I like what you did with your photos. I had brought most of my annuals in the last 2 nights and will again tonight. Today is beautiful, but back in the 40's tonight the last I heard.
Have a great weekend.

Well Marsha the same in Ky. It was 65 in my house this AM. I wanted to turn the heat back on but I just waited til the sun came out and opened all the blind wide trying to get a little warmth. Yes I have heard all the winters you mentioned. Don't help what you call it, it is cool to cold to me. Blessings

Our weather has been the same. 90's earlier this week and in the 30's this morning. It sure looks like spring with all the beautiful flowers. If we can just get through April, May should be nice and warm. I hope. Love & blessings from NC!

Hi Marsha!
My husband and I spent one of my very favorite vacations just driving around Eastern TN for 2 weeks. We visited Smokey Mountain National Park and to this day is still me favorite place on earth. I really enjoyed looking at your photos. Thanks for sharing the site for the textures. It was great. Please come over and visit any time.
