We’ve had a “little” rain in middle Tennessee this weekend. Yeah, that’s an understatement!
Except for a leaky ceiling around a bay window and a toddler afraid of thunder, we are high and dry. Unfortunately, many cannot say that. Several lives have been taken by the flooding and many have been evacuated from their homes.
Shhh…don’t tell our local police, but Cigar Man drove around our little town to capture some of the devastation. We were told not to get out on the roads. Before I go to his pics, I thought this would be a good opportunity to show you our dry creek bed that’s not dry anymore. As you can see, it does the job it’s designed to do.
I’ve lived in this area all my life and I’ve never seen this much flooding so widely spread.
Need a boat to cross this intersection!

Sure hope this guy decided to turn around.

We’re hoping for sunshine tomorrow.

Wow! What can I say? That's a lot of water. We need some of it here in Arizona.
So glad you're dry! I am going to call my sister in law in a few to check in on her. Couldn't get ahold of her Friday night, not sure if she was driving to Nashville to visit friends or if she's home in Collierville. Keep safe!
This is a lot of water.I hope you manage to stay safe and dry.Hopefully the rain stops and the water can recede.

Glad you are safe and dry. Hope the sun dries things up quickly. I don't know why I thought you lived in GA!
Hi Marsha. It looks the same here in Ohio. Our electric was off also for three hours but thankfully it got repaired fast.Your dry creek bed is doing a wonderful job for you and looks pretty. Those poor cars. A person would have to be daft to try to drive through water they cannot see bottom in. Take care and stay dry.
Oh My Marsha!
I just had to gulp when I saw so much water and what it's doing. Water in itself is wonderful until there's just too much of it.
May you stay safe and dry.
God bless,
d from homehaven
Your pictures remind me of my home state of Connecticut not too long ago! Glad you are dry and it is great to see that your dry creek bed is doing its job.
Glad you guys are safe, but the flooding is really bad. Hope the sun comes out soon. Love & blessings from NC!
Oh Marsha! No kiddin when it rains it pours! Those are incredible shots of the flooding! We get flooding like that here in Arizona in July when we get our monsoons... Our ground just gets so saturated it can't soak up all the rain! I also have a "dry creek bed" and luckily our designer knew what he was doing and ours also works! Its amazing that people think that they can drive through that! Arizona has a "Stupid Driver" law... I kid you not.... for people like that guy/gal in your photo that is trying to cross that "PUDDLE". If they have to get rescued they get that ticket on top of the cost of the rescue!
Take care there and stay dry!

Wow..Such a shock.

I hope it dries up quickly.
Thank God you are ok and for sharing the photos with us. I feel so bad for everyone that has been affected by this awful storm.
Wow! The rain and storms have just been devastating. Glad to hear you, your family and home are safe. I did a post earlier, but did not even touch on the how bad it really is.
My daughter sent me some pics. she took on her cell phone, but they were a little blurry, so did not post them.

I've been hearing about it on the news. We got a lot of torrential downpowers in Ark., but fortunately, no flooding. I hope it dries up soon in your area. laurie
Saw the amazing flooding on the news. Hope the water receeds quickly!
GOOD GRIEF! Send a tad bit of that rain over my way to Virginia. My lawn is getting dry and crispy here. So glad to hear you are high and somewhat dry on your property. Water damage is so devastating.
Stay dry!!

Oh my, the flood waters in Tennessee brings back bad memories of the flood in our area in 1998. It's amazing and sad the the devastation that comes from too much rain. It's good to hear that you're high and dry.
Your 'dry' creek bed is beautiful!!
