My Soap Box

recipe box

If you saw my last post, you know that Cigar Man and I

just made some changes to our kitchen.

If you’ve haven’t seen the outcome, please do come in by clicking here.

But the one thing I could never change is my

“Good-Will Soap Box”.

box decor

I found my box at a local antique mall 30 years ago.

It was love at first sight!

As a stay-at-home mom, I didn’t have a lot of extra money

to “throw away” on this homemade box with a price tag of $115

so I put it on lay away until I could bring it home.

box drawer

I loved and still do the

patina of the wood,

box drawers

the crude handles,

my box

and the wording stamped on the side.

box w blur What do I use my box for?

Well, for recipes, of course!

For 30 years, my box has held main course recipes in the top left drawer,

and vegetable recipes in the drawer to the right, cookies a few drawers down and so on.

Maybe you’ve got a treasure in your home that you could never do without?

Sharing my treasure in

My Romantic Home’s Show and Tell Friday

and

Common Ground’s Vintage Inspiration.

What a great use of storage! And I love how you had to save up for it when you were a young mother and you still have it. It's a treasure for sure!

Your treasure is a great find.
No wonder you have loved it for so long.
My treasure that I will always want in my home is my antique child's wagon. I love it. Right now it is holding some of my bears and books for my grandchildren.

That is gorgeous. I would have put it in layaway also.

Love this box!! I also collect antiques, and I am partial to wooden objects. I like the ones that show their age - that are unrestored and unpainted. It's a good thing you saw this box first or it just might have gone home with me!!

Beautiful pictures! And your kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!

Enjoyed my visit - I'll be back soon!

Love, Love, Love your soap box! I'd say it is well worth every penny you paid for it and more!

What an awesome piece! I love anything like that with all of the little drawers. Unfortunately, they always carry a big price tag. I may just have to break down one of these days and purchase something similar. I can see why you would still love it after 30 years.
