If you saw my last post, you know that Cigar Man and I
just made some changes to our kitchen.
If you’ve haven’t seen the outcome, please do come in by clicking here.
But the one thing I could never change is my
“Good-Will Soap Box”.
I found my box at a local antique mall 30 years ago.
It was love at first sight!
As a stay-at-home mom, I didn’t have a lot of extra money
to “throw away” on this homemade box with a price tag of $115
so I put it on lay away until I could bring it home.
I loved and still do the
patina of the wood,
the crude handles,
and the wording stamped on the side.
Well, for recipes, of course!
For 30 years, my box has held main course recipes in the top left drawer,
and vegetable recipes in the drawer to the right, cookies a few drawers down and so on.
Maybe you’ve got a treasure in your home that you could never do without?

I am loving this soap box. And the patina of the wood is beautiful. I love pieces with lots of drawers like this--yes, this piece is a keeper!
So glad you are back and the kitchen makeover is so lovely.
That is beautiful and I see why you would NOT want to part with it! Great idea to hold your recipes in it!
That is a treasure and I like those drawer pulls. What a great idea for the recipes. Your kitchen is lovely!
What a great use of storage! And I love how you had to save up for it when you were a young mother and you still have it. It's a treasure for sure!

Have a great evening.
Your treasure is a great find.
No wonder you have loved it for so long.
My treasure that I will always want in my home is my antique child's wagon. I love it. Right now it is holding some of my bears and books for my grandchildren.
That is gorgeous. I would have put it in layaway also.
That is a very special soap box and I can see why you have cherished it for so long. Great place to keep those recipes close by.
That box is awesome...and oh so useful! Enjoy it looks great.
I love, love, love this Marsha! I think it was well worth the money paid. It's one of those pieces that will always be special. It's beautiful too. I'll bet everyone who comes into your kitchen just loves it!

Love this box!! I also collect antiques, and I am partial to wooden objects. I like the ones that show their age - that are unrestored and unpainted. It's a good thing you saw this box first or it just might have gone home with me!!
Beautiful pictures! And your kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!
Enjoyed my visit - I'll be back soon!

Hi Marsha, wow, it's been awhile, so glad to see and hear from you! First of all your kitchen redo is fabulous, it doesn't even look like the same room...just amazing, and the soap box is wonderful!! What a unique find and I would have done the same thing, save my money and make it happen. Thanks so much for joining in with VIF!!

The soap box is a very unique piece!! I love it!!
Love, Love, Love your soap box! I'd say it is well worth every penny you paid for it and more!
What an awesome piece! I love anything like that with all of the little drawers. Unfortunately, they always carry a big price tag. I may just have to break down one of these days and purchase something similar. I can see why you would still love it after 30 years.
Yes, this soap box is beautiful...
